“To give His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins…” Luke 1:77
If you’ve spent much time around Christians, you’ve probably heard the term “gospel.” Unfortunately, Christians have a bad habit of using “churchy” or “religious words” without always explaining their meaning.
So, what is the “gospel?”
Some people, even some Christians, think it’s just referring to the first four books of the New Testament – often called The Gospels. In reality, there’s so much more to it than that.
The Gospel is the singularly most important communication of God to man.
In Jesus, who is God the Son, we have the revelation of God’s love and sacrifice that saves us from His righteous judgment upon sinners.
So, what does that really mean for you?
Unfortunately, we often have a problem personally experiencing God’s love, because we’re separated from Him due to the sin in our lives. “Sin” is another religious-sounding word that simply means missing the mark of God’s best for our life. It’s living life our way versus God’s way.
Thankfully, there is a solution – the only solution – and that is Jesus.
Jesus died for our sins. He rose from the dead and proved that He is God in the flesh. He is the way, the ONLY way, to God. But it doesn’t stop there. God calls for a decision on behalf of each and every one of us to believe that Jesus is who He says He is, and to trust Christ alone for salvation and abundant life.
This is the Gospel.
Do you believe it? The gospel is the good news of salvation. Jesus is the only solution.
I hope you’ll believe it and receive it.
